We'll Be Back!

Hello Everyone, we thought we would just send a quick reminder that we will be gone for the next couple of days on our shark excursion. Unfortunately this means that their will be no new posts on our website until our return, which should be by Monday (Toronto time). So we hope you all have a great weekend, wish us luck and stay tuned for some great pics!!!!

Granite Island

This past weekend, we went with Keith and Lynne on a hike around Victor Harbour and Granite Island.

This is the horse drawn tram that takes people from Victor Harbour across the bridge to Granite Island.

This is a picture of Keith and Lynne on the hiking trail at Granite Island. For those of you who do not know, they are Matt's parents and are generously letting us stay in their Granny Flat (see earlier post).

This is a view from the hiking trail. We were told that the water was quite calm on the day that we visited. Apparently, the waves can get so high that they have literally swept people away who had been standing to close to the edge.

Later we headed over to Horseshoe Bay for some boogie boarding. Here is a vid of me catching a huge wave:

Cleland Wildlife Park

Today we went to the Cleland Wildlife Park where we met our new friend, Albert the Koala (seen above). He was a lovely fellow, to say the least. After a nice cuddle with Albert, we moved on to make some more friends.

Meet Olga the Kangaroo, HIGH 5 (in the voice of Borat)!!!

My boy, Joey.

Big Daddy, who was too busy posing for his close up to notice the food in my hand.

Olga would not leave Nicole alone and came back for another nibble.

When Nicole ran out, she hopped over to me. How the tables have turned.

I was a little nervous to get any closer to this guy!

We spotted a huge rat!!! Just kidding, we think it is actually a bandicoot.

As an added bonus (thanks to Nick's parents and their awesome xmas gift), here are a few videos we captured from the day!

The Granny Flat

A few of you have asked about our living quarters here in Adelaide. Here are a few pictures to help give you a lifelike tour of the granny flat:

Welcome to our humble abode.

The TV Room

Our big comfy couch.

The dining area.

The kitchen area, of course.

Check out our awesome photo frame Callum and Evan!

The facilities.

The double flusher.
One button is for a half-flush and the second is for a full-flush. You do the math!

THIS JUST IN!!!!

Hello everyone,

As most of you know, my sister Shawna and I have always had a unique fascination with the Great White Shark ever since we saw the 1975 thriller, JAWS. Since my sister is not here with me now, I have some how convinced Sean to join me in a cage dive with these amazing creatures.

Yes, you read it right. Sean and I have booked a trip to Port Lincoln where we will be boarding the Calypso on February 28th. The boat will journey down to the Neptune Islands where we will drop the cages into the water and wait for the Great White Sharks to arrive.

This is only a one day tour so we run the risk of not seeing any sharks, as nature can be unpredictable. However, the good news is that February is said to be the prime month to witness Great White Sharks around the Neptune Islands.

Wish us luck!!!!

* The picture posted above was not taken by us. We grabbed it from: http://www.moviecritic.com.au/images/great-white-shark-in-mexico1.jpg However, we will soon have our own Great White Shark pictures to post, so stay tuned for the real deal!!

Glenelg

On February 16th we headed down to the beach here in Adelaide to check out the Rodney Fox Shark Museum. Unfortunately, it was closed down last April! So instead, we decided to do some sight seeing and go for a dip.

Nicole collected a few seashells.

I enjoyed the water. All in all, it was a great day!

Update

Hello everyone, it has been a while since we last updated our website. We left Sydney a few days ago and headed over to Adelaide, where we are staying with my brother in law Matt's parents, who have been just wonderful and accommodating since our arrival. We have spent the past few days trying to get settled in, it was less than 24hours ago that we gained access to the internet. Some of you have sent emails to make sure that we have not been affected by the bush fires in Australia. Luckily for us we are no where near the flames...so no need to worry. Unfortunately for some of the people who were affected they have lost their homes and others their lives. It is a very sad time in history for all Australians.

On another note, Sean and I have booked two trips to the Gold Coast and Perth. We must have horse shoes in our pockets because the day we got our internet Matt's sister Jacquie informed us about a one day free seat sale on Tiger Airways. So for both of our trips we only had to pay the taxes. Needless to say it was a very good deal. Both trips are booked for March. We leave for the Gold Coast on March 9th and return on the 14th. Two weeks later, on March 27th we leave for Perth and return on April 1st! We are both really looking forward to these trips but in the mean time the Fringe festival is coming up in Adelaide and we would like to visit Kangaroo island as well. So keep checking the website for all new developments.

We love and miss you all, so keep the comments coming.

Bondi Beach

On our last day in Sydney, we decided to visit the beautiful Bondi Beach. As you can see, it was pretty crowded.

Although Nicole looks very relaxed in this photo, she later suffered a bad sunburn despite applying multiple layers of sunscreen throughout the day. Thankfully she is fine now.

Me sporting my nice beach hat!

Last but not least, the view from our beach towels.

Sydney Aquarium

Today we went to the Sydney Aquarium. It was by far, one of the best day trips that we have had so far. I think the pictures speak for themselves, here are a few:
