The Gold Coast

Hey everyone, we just thought that we would let you all know that we landed safely in Gold Coast, Queensland yesterday afternoon. There is currently a cyclone just off of the coast, so the weather here so far has been very wet and extremely windy. It is actually going to pass right by us tomorrow (Wednesday) so they expect it to be even more windy than it was today and for there to be some very large waves. However, there is no need to worry as the cyclone has been weakening very quickly and it is a fair distance off shore.

Today we just walked around a bit and went to the Surfers Paradise Beach which is just down the street from us. Sadly, we did not go for a swim because of the lousy weather.

The view of our pool from the balcony at our hotel.

Scoping out the beach and the gigantic waves!

Creepy self portrait, but the only picture we managed to get of the both of us.

The rain began to pour on down right after we took this photo. Hopefully the bad weather wont last for too much longer. Wish us luck and check back for some more photos!

  1. That's a shame about the weather, because that place looks beautiful. Looks like you could get some real surfing done there though Sean. Hope you brought your little board!

  3. Hey you guys please please be really careful of the rip tides, I am serious I nearly got swept away in Acapulco, one minute you are walking along the beach and the next it's like someone has pulled your legs out from underneath you and the water swallows you up.
These waters are really deceiving and it looks like the beaches are pretty baron.
    Listen to your mother!!!

I want to see you back home in one piece!!!

    Love Mom

  8. Wow, some great pictures. The place looks great. And I'm sure it'll look even better when it isn't covered in clouds!

And listen to mama Stinson or Sutherland (not sure which one it is!) about the rip tides! Be careful.

  9. Hi, I heard the sharks came in to the shore before/after the storms. Exciting times.

  10. For some reason, just stumbled across your blog... I saw that you were here some time ago so you obviously know that the oceans here dont come along and swallow you up or anything...
I hope you enjoyed your time in Australia.
